Look at that satellite picture this morning. Coastal and well developed interior clouds as well, they should clear for most but they’ll hold temperatures down a bit again today.

Areas of low clouds and fog in the morning then sunny. Highs from the lower to mid 60s at the beaches to the low 70s in the coastal valley with 80s perhaps lower 90s in the interior. West winds around 15 mph in the afternoon.

Tonight: clear in the evening then areas of low clouds and fog developing at the coast and near morning in the interior valleys. Lows in the upper 40s to mid 50s. West winds around 15 mph in the evening.

Saturday temps look to come down a bit more with 60s near the beaches and low 70s for most of the rest of the coast with interior only scrambing into the 80s, when normal valley temps should be near 90-93.

Saturday Night: clear in the evening then areas of low clouds and fog. Lows in the upper 40s to mid 50s. West winds 15 to 25 mph in the evening.

Sunday looks similar to Saturday with low clouds and fog in the morning then sunny. Highs from the mid 50s to lower 60s at the beaches to upper 60s and low 70s in the coast valleys with noly mid to upper 80s in the interior. West winds around 15 mph in the afternoon.

A look at the visible satellite picture this morning shows a lot of cloud cover at the Central Coast and even some of the interior valleys of northern SLO county. This will keep temps below normal for most today despite anticipated clearing. Highs from the 60s at the beaches to the mid 70s in the coastal valleys while interior valleys again top out interior valleys will try to reach the lower 80s today. The Southcoast which is already experiencing some sun should get into the lower 70s. West winds around 15 mph in the afternoon.

Tonight looks mostly clear in the evening then areas of low clouds and fog. Lows in the lower to mid 50s. Northwest winds around 15 mph in the evening.

Thursday we expect a little better wind flow with high pressure trying to build a bit, this should allow faster marine clearing and slightly better temperatures with beaches into the mid 60s while coastal valleys reach the mid to upper 70s and the interior makes a run at 90. West winds around 15 mph in the afternoon could even reach peaks up to 25 miles per hour in the early evening before diminishing.

Thursday Night: Mostly clear in the evening then areas of low clouds and fog. Breezy early.

Friday and into the weekend we’ll still see areas of morning marine clouds followed by clearing with beaches in the mid 60s and coastal valleys in the mid 70s with the interior warming up to the mid to upper 90s through Saturday as a high pressure ridge tries to re-establish itself from the east. However Sunday into early next week that re-building ridge loses it’s strength and the temps fall back to about 90 with the coast roughly near seasonal norms.

The Southern Delta Aquarids and Capricornid meteor showers will peak tomorrow and Friday.

Neither shower is known for having lots of meteors per hour, and because of last Sunday’s full moon, the dimmer meteors may be hard to see., and when you add in the marine clouds near the coast this minor event could pass with most not noticing.

However, there will still be around five to 10 meteors per hour with a maximum of 15.

To view the showers, look directly south around 3 a.m. on the respective dates in the direction of the Aquarius and Capricornus constellations.

Tuesday evening, July 27

Mercury and the star Regulus will be less than half a degree apart in the sky and visible with binoculars.

Wednesday morning, July 28

The peak of the South Delta Aquarids meteor shower is best visible around 3 a.m. with about 16 per hour. But the moonlight, the result of the 25th full moon, will make the peak more difficult to see.

A high pressure core about a thousand miles west of Seattle and a low pressure system created by the heat of the desert SW is the dominant wind flow generator through the middle of this week and it is not producing much as the pressure gradient is not great. The high pressure gets stronger by the end of the week to increase the NW Winds. Here is your Central Coast marine forecast:

Today: Wind variable 10 kt or less becoming SW to W around 10 kt in the afternoon. Wind waves 2 ft or less. NW swell 2 to 4 ft at 9 seconds. Patchy fog in the morning.

Tonight: West winds around 10 kt in the evening becoming variable 10 kt or less. Wind waves 2 ft or less. NW swell 2 to 4 ft at 8 seconds. Patchy fog after midnight.

Wedesday: Winds variable 10 kt or less. Wind waves 2 ft or less. Mixed swell NW 3 to 5 ft at 9 seconds and S 2 to 3 ft at 12 seconds. Patchy fog in the morning.

Wedesday Night: NW winds 10 to 15 kt. Wind waves 2 ft or less. Mixed swell NW 3 to 5 ft and S 2 to 3 ft. Patchy fog after midnight.

Thursday: NW winds 10 to 15 kt. Wind waves 2 ft or less. Mixed swell NW 3 to 5 ft and S 2 to 3 ft. Patchy fog in the morning.
