SUNDAY FORECAST UPDATE:

BY DAVE HOVDE

The upper air ridge is getting re-built a bit today.  The morning charts show some upper level NE winds which should translate down to the surface and start warming things up again.  This will keep the skies clear and the air very dry.  Everything looks to stay offshore through Tuesday, however after that the ridge breaks down…Wednesday some clouds work their way in and Thursday the models are in agreement that a low pressure area spins up and crosses over the area for a good chance of rain.

Expect mid to upper 70s and some low 80s through Monday, temps falling a few degrees into the 70s for Tuesday and Wednesday, and back into the 60s with the rain for Thursday.  For detailed forecasts for your town select it in the detailed forecast menu here at KSBY.com

We know it was a spectacular weekend, so we hope to see your pictures on the KSBY Weather Picture page, and you can always tell us what you were up to here on the blog.

Best wishes, and hope you are enjoying the weekend.

BTW– Yes, I am almost entirely certain January broke records for heat in San Luis Obispo and the Central Coast.  We had two significant heat waves, very little rain.  The National Weather Service has made that determination for Los Angeles but it’ll take them some time to work the numbers for other locations.  Our temperature watcher, Greg, is convinced a record January has happened looking at the airport records for SLO.  Problem is that Cal Poly is considered ‘official’ in San Luis Obispo and those temperatures always differ and quite frankly are a matter of debate.  If you want just a little of the flavor of that debate click HERE.

NATIONAL WEATHER

A big storm is developing for the East Coast.  Many states are still trying to recover from last week’s ice storm.  Click HERE to read a blog about the storm from Maryland.
